Facts about Asperger's Syndrome

Asperger’s syndrome is a Neuro developmental disorder and has been categorised under the Autism spectrum disorder according to DSM 5 by the American psychiatric association.

Asperger’s syndrome was named after Hans Asperger’s , a Vienna doctor .In the 1940 Hans asperger’s began to notice the social difficulties faced by certain children who came for consultation under his care.His extensive work on the symptoms and the topic lead to this syndrome being named after him

Asperger’s tends to have an effect on an individual’s behaviours, use of language and communication, and mostly importantly the pattern of social interaction

People with Asperger’s have normal to above average intelligence but have difficulties in social interactions. They have pervasive, absorbing interests on special topics. They generally stick to very specific routines, and some of them have repetitive movements or tics. Asperger’s is 5 times more common in boys than girls . The social behavioural symptoms may start as early as infancy

Treatment and Care

From Social skills training , cognitive behavioral therapy, applied behaviour analysis to neuro linguistic programming, we educate and help the client learn various coping techniques , communication skills as well manage their own emotions. We also psycho educate the parents / family members on how to deal with as well as manage the asperger’s client by conducting family sessions and giving necessary management plan.
